The hot, flexible rib is guided down to its new home.
Selected white oak carefully cut with the grain bends
nicely to conform to the hull shape.
As soon as the new rib is in position it is clamped and fastened.
The original engine beds also required replacement.
Here a piece of 3 inch thick by 12 foot long white oak is being fitted
to the stringer that it will be bolted to.
Here the engine beds are fitted to to a white oak floor that
mounts in the forward part of the engine compartment.
The engine beds and floor are shown here bolted and
screwed to the ribs, stringers, and keel.
